| The single-owner collection of Art Nouveau and Art Deco glassware in Koller Geneva's 17 May auction was an unqualified success, with a packed salesroom of collectors and professionals from Japan, Belgium and the USA. Some lots, such as an enamel-decorated baluster vase by Camille Fauret (lot 456, sold for CHF 7 700 / EUR 5 100), had as many as twelve telephone bidders vying against the salesroom. Classic works by Gallé, Daum and Lalique sold as well as or even better than before last autumn's financial crisis, such as the beautiful table lamp by Daum with dragonfly decoration (lot 262) that sold for CHF 36 600 / EUR 24 150, or the rare silver and opaline glass chalice by René Lalique (lot 351) that sold to the Lalique Museum opening soon in Alsace, for CHF 21 960 / EUR 14 500. Art Deco vases by Schneider were extremely popular in this sale, confirming a recent trend, for example the pure lines of a 1925 floral-engraved baluster vase (lot 274) that sold to a fortunate collector for CHF 9 760 / EUR 6 400. The Art Nouveau / Art Deco sale garnered in total CHF 497 000 / EUR 328 000, selling at 72% by lot and 106% by value. | ||
