- Probably auction of the Collection Comte de Sauveterre, Regnault, Folliot, Paris, 21.3.1785, Lot 5 (as Herman d’Italie).
- European private collection.
Literature:
Steland, Anne Charlotte: Herman van Svanevelt (circa 1603 – 1655). Gemälde und Zeichnungen, Petersberg 2010, vol. 1, p. 239 (as Herman d’Italie).
Oil on canvas, relined. Paint surface well-preserved with a fine net of craquelures. Slight colour abrasion along the edges.
Under UV: touch-ups along the edges. Several smaller retouching and retouched craquelures in the sky and on the trees and in the foreground. Varnish appears irregular in fluorescent green.
