A GOLD LACQUER AND SHIBAYAMA-INLAID VASE.
Japan, Meiji period, height 31.5 cm.
Decorated in typical Shibayama style of mother-of-pearl and bone inlaid garden scenes on inset lobed panels. Silver mounts. Signed in mother-of-pearl inlay 'Mitsunobu'/'Kôshin'. Minor damages.
Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, purchased before 1970 (no invoice), hence by descent.
