BRONZE FIGURE OF ZEUS,Greece, 5th century BC. Bronze with green patina. Zeus standing with his right arm raised, on a stepped, square wooden base. H 18 cm (without base). H 23.5 cm (with base). IMPORTANT BUREAU-PLAT OF THE MARQUIS DE NICOLAY "AUX TETES DE SATYRE",Regency, by A.C. BOULLE (André Charles Boulle, 1643-1732), Paris ca. 1720. Ebony and red/brown tortoise shell, exceptionally finely inlaid with engraved brass fillets in "première-partie"; flowers, cartouches and leaves. Rectangular top etched in bronze and lined with gold-stamped leather. Front with broad retracted central drawer, flanked by 1 drawer on each side, and the same but sham arrangement verso, with the exception of the central mascaron of the bust of Democritus. Exceptionally opulent matte and polished gilt brass mounts. Old restorations, so-called "restaurations d'usage". 195x98x80 cm. Provenance: - Family Malon de Bercy or family de Nicolay, in the 18th century. - Léon, Marquis de Nicolay (1801-1873). - Remained in possession of the same family by inheritance, presently in a castle collection, Suisse romande. LARGE BUREAU-PLAT,so-called "bureau ministre", Louis XV, probably by J. DUBOIS (Jacques Dubois, maître 1742), Paris ca. 1745/50. Purpleheart and mahogany in veneer and inlaid with a lozenge pattern. Leather-lined top edged in bronze. Front with central drawer flanked by 1 drawer on each side. Same but sham arrangement on verso. Bronze mounts and sabots. Some losses. 199x99x80 cm. SET OF 4 LARGE TAPESTRY FAUTEUILS "A LA REINE",Regency, from a Parisian master workshop, ca. 1725/30. Beech, exquisitely carved with flowers, leaves, cartouches and decorative frieze. Polychrome tapestry cover with flowers, leaves and bows, with decorative bullen nails. Tapestry, in part not original. 70x55x40x106 cm. Provenance: - La Vieille Fontaine, Lausanne. - Private collection, Suisse romande. A pair of very similar fauteuils "à la reine" were sold at the Koller Auction in December 2004 (Lot No. 1113).

IMPORTANT CLOCK "AUX TROIS FIGURES D'ATLAS" WITH PLANETARIUM AND ARMILLARY SPHERE,Directory/Empire, the hour dial signed INV.FEC MARTINENGO HR A PARIS, after designs by C. PERCIER (Charles Percier, 1764-1838) and P.F.L. FONTAINE (Pierre François Léonard Fontaine, 1762-1853), the bronzes by the MAISON JACOB, Paris ca. 1820. White marble, and gilt and patinated bronze. Triangular case with 3 figures of Atlas carrying the planetarium and armillary sphere. The sides each with a dial; the first with hours and minutes in Arabic numerals, the second with a finely painted moon phase "Phase de lune", the third with date, days of the week and "quantième". Fine anchor movement "à complications", connected to the gilt planetarium. In the centre of the planetarium: the Sun in gilt bronze, the Earth and the Moon, surrounded by Mars, Jupiter with 4 moons, Saturn and Mercury in ivory. Supported by 4 armillary rings with "colure des equinox", "colure des solstices", "colure du mois" and "colure des signes zodiaques". Exquisite bronze mounts and applications designed as garlands, Apollo and Venus mascarons, depiction of Psyche in relief. 34x34x89 cm. Provenance: From a Belgian private collection.
