The painting goes back to a composition from 1613 by Jan Brueghel the Elder, which is in the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu (inv. no. 92.PB.82, see Klaus Ertz and Christa Nitze-Ertz: Jan Brueghel der Ältere (1568-1625). Critical Catalogue of Paintings, Lingen 2008-10, cat. no. 197, pp. 454-455).
Oil on canvas, lined. Paint surface shows a slight degree of wear in places, with a network of craquelure. Slight colour abrasions along the edges.Under uv: some small retouching on the trees, in the sky and in the foreground visible. Varnish appears irregular in fluorescent green.Dimensions with frame: 77 × 105.5 cm.
