The scene with Abraham and Melchizedek derives from a composition by Peter Paul Rubens, today located in the Ringling Museum in Sarasota (Inv. No. SN212, c. 1625, oil on canvas, 445 x 570 cm). Due to the stylistic characteristics of the present painting, a date of creation in the 18th century in the circle of Johann Georg Platzer is conceivable.
