BOULLE CLOCK ON PLINTH "A L'EMPEREUR DE CHINE",

French Regency/Louis XV, the dial signed BRINDEAU A PARIS (Nicolas Brindeau, maître 1749), Paris ca. 1740/50.
Brown tortoiseshell and engraved brass "en première partie", finely inlaid with flowers, leaves and decorative frieze. Fine bronze dial with 24 enamel cartouches for the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. 2 hands. Movement with verge escapement, striking the 1/2-hour on bell. Exquisite gilt bronze mounts designed as dragons, warriors, "espagnolettes", cartouches and decorative frieze. Requires restoration.
