SERIES OF 3 TAPESTRIES FROM "LA VIE CHAMPETRE",

Louis XV, Manufacture d'Aubusson, after designs by E. JEAURAT (Etienne Jeaurat, Vermenton 1699-1789 Versailles) for the series of the "Metamorphoses" by Ovid, ca. 1750/60.
Exquisite depictions from the Metamorphoses by Ovid;
a) Vertumus, dressed as an old woman and declaring his love to Pomona. Fine blue border.
b) Apollo and the Muses, in an idealized landscape. Fine blue border.
c) Telemachus and Calypso, in an idealized landscape. Fine blue border.

Provenance:
- from a patrician house, Geneva. The tapestries were built into a boiserie (wood paneling). Therefore, the border is missing.
- Auction Koller Zurich, 18 May 1978 (Lot No. 3077).
