AN AUGUSTUS REX VASE WITH CHINOISERIE DECORATION

Meissen, c. 1735-40. The painting probably from the 19th century.
The globular middle section with two lobed reserves, one side depicting Chinese figures grouped around a table and accompanied by a musician playing the lute, the other side with a Chinese group with dignitaries presenting porcelain on a table. The neck and foot with “indianischen blumen" and two birds in reserve on a purple ground, gold rims. AR mark in blue on the unglazed base.
H 47 cm.

Provenance:
- With Kunsthandel Ars Domi, Zurich.
- Swiss private collection.
