PLATE FROM A SERVICE FOR THE COUNT VON MÜNNICH

Meissen, ca. 1738.
Painted with the family coat of arms over the Russian Order of St. Andrew and the motto "Obsequio et candore", the sides decorated with oval cartouches and war trophies with garlands and scattered flowers. Sulkowski relief border. Underglaze blue sword mark, potter's mark for Johann E. Grund sen.
D 23.5 cm.

Enamel colors, in part rubbed or scratched.

Provenance:
1740, donated by Frederick Augustus II, Elector of Saxony, King of Poland (1696-1763), as a present to Count Burckhardt Christoph von Münnich.
