SMALL BRACKET CLOCK WITH DATE AND 1/4-HOUR STRIKING MECHANISM

Bohemia, 18th century. Signed Joseph Kerber Karlsbad (mentioned in Augsburg in 1722 and 1753).
Rectangular, blackened wooden case, glazed all-around. Gilt fronton with silvered chapter ring, within a border of applied, relief-decorated tendrils. Above, a silvered chapter ring for adjusting the striking mechanism, with an applied angel on each side. Pierced area in the dial, for displaying the small counter-pendulum and for the date. Two-day movement with verge escapement on small rear pendulum, striking the 4/4-hour on two bells. Repetition on demand. Striking mechanism can be turned off.
19.5 × 14.5 × 32 cm.
