BRACKET CLOCK

London ca. 1720/30. The dial and movement signed Matt Crockford London (Matthew Crockford, 1693-1718).
Rectangular, blackened wooden case, the top featuring pierced and chased ornaments in brass. Silvered chapter ring with the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. Small window for counter-pendulum, date window. Movement with verge escapement, striking the 1/2-hour on three bells, worm wheel winding mechanism. Repetition mechanism, striking the 1/4-hour. Movement plate, engraved with tendrils.
