CARTEL CLOCK

Louis XVI, Paris ca. 1760/70. Signed: Causard H.gr du Roi Suiv.t la cour. (Edmé Causard, deceased in 1780).
Gilt bronze and brass. The case opulently decorated with laurel garlands, palmettes, pomegranates and heads of rams. The top featuring a bust of Bacchus. White enamel dial with the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. Pierced, engraved hands. Movement with anchor escapement, striking the 1/2-hour on bell. 1 key.
44 x 13 x 84 cm.

- Galvanic gilding, later.
- Striking mecanism, not in working order.
