BOULLE CLOCK ON PLINTH

Régence, Paris ca. 1720/30. The movement signed Pia à Paris (probably Barthélemy Pia, maître 1715).
Clock case inlaid with brass and tortoiseshell première-and contre-partie boulle marquetry, the brass designed as trailing flowers and tendrils. The case is further decorated with bronze flowers and leaves, and features a putto on top. The case door is decorated with two putti. Relief-decorated bronze dial with white enamel cartouches. Movement with verge escapement, striking the 1/2-hour on bell.
39 x 17 x 112 cm.

Enamel cartouches, in part with cracks. Losses in the marquetry.
