A CHAIN FLASK
Berlin, c. 1896. Mark of J. Wagner & Sohn (royal court jewellers).
Chased on all sides with volutes, on an oval foot and with eagle finial.
H 39.2 cm. 2220 g.
This chain flask was awarded in 1896 by Prince Friedrich Leopold of Prussia (1865–1931) as a prize for the autumn race of the West Prussian equestrian club, which is also indicated by the inscription on the edge of the cover.
