APOLLO MISSION SCAPE SUIT
1966
180 cm, size M
Provenance: Italian private collection
The SCAPE (Self-Contained Atmospheric Protection Ensemble) suits were worn by NASA personnel responsible for rocket and spacecraft refueling and working with hazardous materials.
This suit is an early example and is dated March 1966. Inside and out, the suit is stamped with NASA stamps and serial numbers. The helmet is numbered 587, which places it in the Apollo / Gemini era. There are traces of repairs all over the suit due to its frequent use. The black matching gloves and boots are later additions. All in all, an impressive piece of Space Exploration History.
