A SET OF FOUR CANDLESTICKS

Empire, Paris, 19th century. After a design by Claude Galle (1759–1815) from around 1810.
Bronze, gilt and chased and partly with dark patina. Octagonal central shaft with vase-shaped nozzle and connected paw feet, on a relief-decorated round foot. Decorative leaf frieze.
H 25.5 cm.

Gilding somewhat rubbed and tarnished. Smaller losses to the dark patination.

The original design goes back to two similar candlesticks by Claude Galle, which are now kept in the Grand Trianon at Versailles (inv. no. T1040).
