TAPESTRY "LE TRIOMPHE DE MERCURE",

Regence, signed V*LEYNIERS*DL (Manufactory of Urban and Daniel IV Leyniers, active between 1729 and 1747), after drawings by J. VAN ORLEY (Jan van Orley, 1665–1735), Brussels, ca. 1740.
Depiction of Mercury with a winged helmet and a staff between a rooster and a putto. Finely stylised leaf border. Height reduced by sewing. H 285 cm (actually 392 cm). W 570 cm.
