FOOT OF A STANDING CROSS (FRAGMENT),Renaissance, Tuscany, 15th/16th century. Bronze and copper, chased, engraved and gilt, set with rock crystal and lapis lazuli cabochons and partially enamelled. The arms with the enamelled inscription: CHRISTUS FACTUS EST PRO NOBIS OBEDIENS USQUE AD MORTEM / MORTEM AUTEM CRUCIS. Upper part, altered. H 49 cm. Provenance: From an Italian collection. The foot may originally have been part of a ciborium or a monstrance.
