GUILD CASKET OR DOCUMENT STORAGE BOX,
early Baroque, probably Zurich or Winterthur ca.1700.
Shaped walnut, in part ebonized. Central drawer. The front and back opulently paneled.The sides with finely sculpted handles. The inside lined with "Herrnhuter" pasted paper. Additional drawer, secret compartment and mechanism for the lateral secret drawer in the frame. Original tin-plated iron locks, hinges and mounts.
