TABERNACLE WRITING COMMODE,
Baroque, Southern Germany, 18th century.
Walnut, burlwood, ebony and other woods, inlaid with rectangular reserves and bands. Tabernacle top with 11 drawers and 1 door, the door opening up into 11 further drawers and 1 door (key missing). Center with hinged writing surface in front of 4 drawers, flanked by 4 further drawers. Lower part with 3 drawers. Brass and bronze mounts. Iron handles. Restored. 2 keys.
