DRINKING VESSEL WITH AUTOMATION,

so-called "Maiden's Cup", Renaissance, Augsburg or Nuremberg, 2nd half of the 16th century.
Matte and polished gilt bronze. Finely engraved beaker designed as a maiden in contemporary dress, with removable torso for opening the hollow space for the beverage, on 3 small wheels. Iron spring-driven movement with solid iron wheels and mechanism for automatic shut-off.
H 23 cm.
