IMPORTANT COMMODE "AUX BUSTES DE FEMME",

French Regency/Louis XV, signed L. DE LAITRE (Louis Delaitre, maître 1738), Paris ca. 1735/45.
Tulipwood and purpleheart, in veneer and finely inlaid with reserves and decorative frieze. Front with 3 drawers, the top drawer divided in two. Exquisite matte and polished gilt bronze mounts and applications designed as female busts, Cupids, lion heads, cartouches and decorative frieze. Shaped white/red speckled marble top, repaired.
145x69x89 cm.

Provenance:
- formerly part of the Di Capua Collection, Turin.
- from a private collection, Switzerland.
