WRITING DESK "AUX ROSACES",

so-called "table liseuse", Louis XV, attributable to J.F. OEBEN (Jean François Oeben, maître 1761), Paris ca. 1760.
Tulipwood, rosewood and partly tinted precious woods, in veneer, and exquisitely inlaid with rosettes, flowers, leaves, meander band, fillets and decorative frieze. Top with pierced brass edging. Front with 1 drawer with hinged shelf lined with light blue silk and compartments for writing utensils. Fine, matte and polished gilt bronze mounts and sabots.
58.5x37x74.5 cm.
