The original design of the pair of vases currently on offer comes from A.E. Fragonard (Alexandre Evariste Fragonard, 1750-1850) ; the sketch was published in: B. Chevallier, Les Sèvres à Fontainebleau, Pièces entrées de 1804 à 1904, Paris 1996; p. 104 with the caption "Vase gothique fragonard 1823 admis en conférence avec les correction faites à l'encre au pied le 25 juillet 1823 - Alexandre Brogniart".
