Engraved by Pieter SLUYTER (1675-1715) und J. MUTOER. Lot of six sheets with plants, butterflies and insects. From: Metamorphosis insectorum surinamensium. Including: 1. Figuier d'Amérique; 2. Malus Aurantia; 3. Papaya; 4. Guava.
Coloured copper engraving.
Four sheets with engraved signature in the image: P.Sluyter, one sheet signed: J.Mutoer, a further sheet unsigned. Each with engraved number lower right: 19, 30, 31, 33, 52, 64.
One engraving (No 31) ca. 30 x 23.5 cm. Other leaves, each ca. 37 x 27 cm. All in identical wooden frames.
Mostly with margins around the plate. Even light browning and some discreet foxing in parts within the passepartout area. Sheet No 19 with small restoration in the image. The colours slightly faded. Verso remains of mount.
