The painting offered here was probably painted c. 1800 by an artist during a study trip to Rome and possibly references a lost work by Paolo Anesis with figures by Paolo Monaldi (1710-1779), a student of Anesi and the Roman Bamboccianto.
Oil on canvas, original canvas. Paint surface partly slightly thin and with a net of craquelures. A restored canvas tear to the left.
Under UV: several touch-ups in the sky, on the figures and in the foreground.
