AN OTTOMAN JADE-HILTED DAGGER (KARD).

Turkey, 19th c. Length (blade) 17.5 cm, length (total) 29.5 cm.
With single-edged watered blade, the forte on either side decorated with a panel of gold damascening floral motif which continues as a band on the curved back edge. The greyish-green faceted jade with a central stone-set filigree. The silver scabbard chased and engraved with leafy scrolls, with filigree and stone-set locket and a bud-form chape. Inlays partly lost.
