Comparable items for this small model: Metropolitan Museum New York, see Y. Hackenbroch, Meissen in the Irwin Untermyer Collection, 1956, Plate 12, Ill.13; Erich von Goldschmidt-Rothschild Collection, see Hermann Ball-Paul Graupe Berlin, Auction 16-21 March 1931, Lot No. 454 (a pair of works).

In Kändler's work reports from July to August 1741, he notes the following: "A peacock", possibly the entry refers to exactly this model, which is a smaller, slightly modified version of Kändler's much larger peacock model (102 cm) from 1734. Three copies of the large model can still be found in the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen in Dresden (Pietsch, 2006).
