GILT AND SILVER-PLATED BRONZE BOX

Renaissance, Southern Germany, Nuremberg or Augsburg, probably of the 19th century.
Metal and bronze, gilt and silver-plated. Rectangular body, the base with one drawer. Architecturally structured on all sides and decorated with herms, putti and mythical beasts, within a border of tendrils. Set with polychrome glass and turquoise cabochons. Hinged cover with analogous design, the inside lined with red velour. Mounted on a later wooden plinth, lined with red velour. The rear and front with four niches, probably originally featuring figures. The inside with old inventory number (805). Small key.
18 × 13 × 12 cm.

Feet, missing. Losses, signs of use, repairs. Two upper hinges require repair. Silver plating, strongly rubbed.
