A GREEN TARA (DÖLMAJANG).
Tibet, 19th c. Height 17.5 cm.
Repoussé, the face of fire-gilded copper. Hair with traces of ritual paint. The protective goddess and savior, seated on a lotus pedestal, rests her right foot on a lotus; she shows the gestures of granting wishes and disputation. Inlays lost.
Provenance: By repute from Shigatse, purchased in Nepal, May 1971.
