A GOLD LACQUER AND SHIBAYAMA HANDLED TRAY.

Japan, Meiji period, width 30 cm.
Inset panel inlaid with mother-of-pearl, stone and ivory on gold lacquer, surrounded by a ornamental silver and gold hiramaki-e. Iron handle and feet imitating bamboo. At base marked Kaneko sei. Minor damage.
