Encyclopédie, ou dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des art et des métiers... 17 text volumes, 4 supplement volumes, 12 plate volumes, 2 index volumes, altogether 35 volumes. With 1 engraved frontispiece (together with the rare explanation sheet by Diderot), 1 folding engraved tree diagram, 2,832 (of 3,129; of which 302 double-page and 19 multiple folding) copperplate engravings and 7 folding tables.
Paris, Briasson et al., 1751-1772 (text vols. 1-7 and plate vols. 1-12); Neufchâstel (i.e. Paris), Faulche, 1765 (text vols. 8-17); Amsterdam, Panckoucke and Rey, 1776-1777 (supplements and supplement plate volume). Folio. Contemporary mottled calf with 2 labels on spine, gilt edges and richly gilt spine (extremities of spine and edges somewhat rubbed).
