LATE-GOTHIC IRON CLOCK

Switzerland, probably Zug, beginning of the 17th century.
Open case constructed of flat iron bands. Movement and striking mechanism arranged one behind the other. The movement, with verge escapement and foliot (restored back to original). Striking mechanism, striking the hours, with locking plate with internal teeth and external fly vane. Gothicized bell cage. The dial painted later with a view of Zug and the coat-of-arms of the Zug family Brandenberg.
16 × 21 × 48 cm.

Restored and supplemented.
