CYLINDRICAL TANKARD WITH INDIAN FLOWER DECORATION

Meissen, ca. 1735-38.
Painted with chrysanthemums coiling around the tankard wall. The silver lid, gilt on the inside, is mounted with a silver coin featuring a half-length portrait of Princess Sophia of Saxony-Weissenfels, née Princess of Anhalt-Zerbst (1654-1724), and the inscription "D G SOPHIA PR ANH NAT DV GSAX". Blue sword mark on the unglazed bottom. The foot mounted with a circumferential leaf border.
H 17cm (20.5 cm).

Minimal restoration to the rim, silver mount probably replaced.
