FU BAOSHI (1904–1965), attributed.

China, cyclically dated to 1948, 42.8 × 50.8 cm.
Ink and colours on paper. Zither player sitting at a shore. Inscribed and signed: Fu Baoshi. Seal 1: Fu. Seal 2: Wang wang zui hou. Hanging scroll.

Provenance: Purchased March 10, 1979 from Toyobi, Frederick Baekeland, New York (letter and invoice available). Exhibited at "Asian Art: A Collector's Selection" at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University October 17–November 25, 1973 and the Munson Williams Proctor Institute December 16, 1973–January 13, 1974 (no catalogue available).
