HELBARD

German, ca. 1550. Landsquenet weapon.
Square tip, half-moon-shaped blade with concave edge, with punctiform perforations. Beak-shaped hook with four punctiform perforations. Mark: "cross in a shield". Long langets and shaft bands, clamp. Original shaft, in part restored.
L 232.5 cm.

Provenance:
- Collection M. Sigrist, Lucerne.

The well-known landsquenet leader, Georg von Frundsberg (1773-1528), was portrayed with a similar helbard by Christoph Amberger (1505-1562).
