HELBARD

Swiss, last third of the 17th century, so-called "Sempacher helbard", Bernese version.
Blade-shaped tip, diamond section restored, two marks: 1. a circle divided by eight lines, 2. a small trapezoid mark. Blade with convex edge, old cracks. Two restored langets, parrying spikes missing. Edged, round shaft, restored.
L 196.5 cm.

Provenance:
- Collection M. Sigrist, Lucerne.

Rare variant of the Bernese Sempacher helbard, cf. Wegeli, Stangenwaffen, Hist. Museum Bern, 1939, p. 71, Nos. 1465-1467, Plate IX. Helbard dated back to the 15th century.
