The painting offered here can be traced back to Raphael's famous composition, now in the Musée du Louvre, where it has been known since the 18th century as 'La belle jardinière' (inv. no. 602, oil on poplar wood, signed and dated RAPHAELLO URB. MDVIII, 122 × 80 cm).
