PAIR OF IMPORTANT CONSOLES WITH BOULLE MARQUETRY,

in the Regence style, signed CAILLAUX (Eugène Paul Caillaux, active in the mid–19th century), Paris, ca. 1850/60.
Brown tortoiseshell, finely inlaid with engraved brass fillets; flowers, leaves, cartouches and decorative frieze. Curved, shaped "Fleur de Pêcher" top on a curved frame, with 4 curved scrolled legs connected by a shelf bearing a vase "aux dragons". Large paw feet. Convex front with 1 drawer. Exquisite matte and polished gilt bronze mounts designed as female busts, mascarons and decorative frieze. 116x58x95 cm.
