MODEL CANON
German or Swiss, dated 1682.
Bronze barrel (L 42 cm), Cal. 18 mm, muzzle with reinforcing rings, two decorative bands with floral and acanthus decoration, and two further identical decorative bands, trunnions, handle in the shape of a dolphin; above the chamber part, and delimited by decorative rings, a large Baroque cartouche with the date 1681; priming pan, butt end with leaf decoration, handle designed as a pine cone. Original wooden, in part carved, black-painted gun carriage, with spoked wheels and iron mounts, tow hook.
Gun-carriage length 60.5 cm.
A rare original model canon of exceptional quality.
Barrel and carriage period items, but assembled.
