AN EXTENSIVE 'ROCOCO FORM' DINNER SERVICE WITH FLORAL DECORATION AND GOLD BORDERS (90 pieces),

Nymphenburg, modern. Forms for the 'Churfürstliche Hofservice' of 1760.
Comprising:
4 oval platters with handles, in various sizes (D 21-30 cm)
12 soup plates with covers and saucers
1 oval tureen and cover with lemon finial and stand (30 cm/40 cm)
2 salts
2 salt shakers
24 dinner plates
1 vegetable bowl in square form
1 round tureen and cover with lemon finial and stand (22 cm/ 34 cm)
1 sauce boat
1 fish platter
12 small salad plates
1 round platter
Shield mark impressed and printed in green over 'Nymphenburg'.

The identical 'Rococo' service forms, painted in a more elaborate version with the flower bouquets and insects after Joseph Zächinger, were designed for the Electoral Court Service of 1760.

In 1913 this service was reproduced as the 'Cumberland Service' for the wedding of Ernst August, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, the son of the last Duke of Cumberland, with Viktoria Luise, the daughter of the last German Kaiser, Wilhelm II.
