A PARTLY GILT SWORD (YATAGAN).

Ottoman Empire, Turkey, 18th/19th c. Length (blade) 57.5 cm.
Curved, single-edged blade with fine damask, the hilt with 2 riveted maritime ivory plates, wooden scabbard, all with partly gilt silver mounts and coral inlays.

Provenance: Otto Markés collection. Swiss private collection before 2001.
