PAIR OF "SEAUX À GLACE À TRÉPIED",

Sèvres, c. 1786.
Parcel gilt, the bowl on three pilaster legs over a curved flat plinth. Each comprised of bowl with lateral lion heads with rings, liner and cover with leaf finial. Marked "Sevres R. F.".
H 27.5 cm. Slightly restored. (3)

The form comes from Louis Le Masson for a Service "Arabesque", which was designed after an antique model for a service for King Louis XVI in 1783. Various services with these forms were recorded, such as for the French dealer Bazin in 1786, painted with "pois verds“ decoration (David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, 2005, vol. IV, no. 86-5, p. 779-780). For a comparable model, see Christie's Paris, 7 March 2017, Lot 124. A further similar model can be found in the Musée Nissim Camondo Paris
(exhibition "Les services aux oiseaux Buffon du Comte Moïse de Camondo. Une encyclopédie sur porcelaine" , Paris, musée Nissim de Camondo, 13 Oct. 2016 - 15 Jan. 2017).
