[5] leaves, 72 pages. - BOUND WITH: Histoire des Insectes de l'Europe, dessinée d'après nature & expliquée ... où l'on traite de la génération & des différentes métamorphoses des chenilles, vers, papillons, mouches & autres insectes; & des plantes, des fleurs & des fruits dont ils se nourrissent. Traduite du hollandois en françois par Jean Marret. With small coloured vignette to title, large coloured vignett at the end and 184 coloured engravings on 47 plates. Amsterdam, Jean Frederic Bernard, 1730. [2] leaves, 84 pages. Contemporary leather-binding with gilt title to spine and gilt edges (some traces of older restorings to joints, minor rubbing, corners somewhat bumped).

I. Third edition, the first with french-latin texts. Enlarged with 12 plates in comparison to first edition 1705. - II. First folio-edition with french text of "Histoire des Insectes. Usually with 4 (and three times with 3) engravings on each plate. - Fine copy with wide margins, a few fingermarks in places. - Provenance: Another engraving (probably a proof copy) by Merian mounted as an Exlibris to inner cover, dated 1697. - Therein ownership inscription by british medic H[enry] W[illiam] Livett (1814-1901), Wells.
