COLETTE GRAVITY PISTOL

Belgian, ca. 1860, first version.
Octagonal barrel (L 22 cm), Cal. 10 mm, fine rifling, Gun No. VC 175, indistinct Liège mark. Front and rear sights, solid. Lock case with drop-block lock - cocking the hammer to the first catch raises the chamber block to receive the ammunition located above the barrel chamber, in the second catch, the block drops and brings the ammunition into the chamber, slide safety. Iron mount, trigger guard and grip cap decorated with engraved tendrils. Carved walnut grip, so-called "crosse renaissance".
L ca. 36.2 cm.

A rare first version of the single-shot pistol developed in the Liège company of Alexander Colette with E. J. Nicolas, still without the gravity magazine, added later. In good condition. Cf. Eugène Heer: Der Neue Støckel, Schwäbisch Hall 1968, Vol. 1, p. 230.
