CEREMONIAL SWORD

Empire, France, ca. 1810.
Silver hilt, olive-shaped pommel and solid handle, decorated with multiple faceted half-spheres, French control stamp 1809/19, Paris. Rivet head. Knuckle guard ending in the grip base, short quillon, decorative grip hook with mark "L.T.", oval guard plate. All parts of the hilt with faceted half-sphere decoration. Blade with triangular cross-section (L 75 cm), etched decoration rubbed.
L 90.3 cm.

An elaborately crafted sword hilt which imitates a hilt set with diamonds; a popular model at the Court of Napoleon I.
