HUNTING HORN

German, ca. 1860.
Carved ivory decorated with: a hunter with a rifle, signaling the death of the deer he killed lying at his feet, and two dogs. Hollow mouthpiece. Funnel with screwed metal mount and carrying ring, a second carrying ring on the back of the horn, green cord.
L 20.3 cm.

A beautiful hunting horn with a Late Romantic, skillfully-worked decoration, possibly from an ivory production facility in Erbach in the Odenwald.
