PLATTER WITH RARE KAKIEMON-STYLE DECORATION,

Meissen, model by J. J. Kändler, c. 1734, formed and painted c. 1735-1740.
Model with "Altem Ausschnitt". With a jumping blue lion behind a bamboo cane with a winding stem of flowering peony, a large peony bouquet on the right, and with three 'indianische' flower sprigs on the rim. Brown edge line. Underglaze blue sword mark, incised mark // and former's mark for Johann Elias Grund.
D 29.5 cm. Small repair to the edge.

Provenance: Private collection, Basel, since the 1930s.
