Lot 3629 - A200 Old Master Prints - Friday, 01. April 2022, 10.00 AM

CLAUDE LE LORRAIN

(Chamagne 1600– 1682 Rome)
Le port de mer à la grosse tour. Circa 1641.
Etching.
Verso with old inscription in pencil: J.C. July 15. 1817.
13.1 x 19.4 cm. Framed.

Robert-Dumesnil 13; Blum 16; Mannocci 39 probably III/IV (of VI, before the additional number. The engraved number '9' in the left margin, which is usual for this state, was probably removed manually). - A fine impression, mostly with a fine margin around the platemark. Evenly browned and with subtle water stains in places. The upper right corner with more pronounced staining and further isolated brown stains. Minimal discolouration at the upper edge, presumably due to the mounting, slightly showing through from the verso.
